AND I HAD BROUGHT UP TO A COUPLE PEOPLE IN DISCUSSION ABOUT WHY WE DON'T HAVE MORE RESIDENTS BEING ABLE TO ACQUIRE PROPERTY AND TITLE IT OPEN SPACE, JUST BECAUSE THEY WANT TO HELP IN PRESERVING OPEN SPACE.

UM, IN PARTICULAR WHERE MY PROPERTY IS, I OWN TWO PROPERTIES.

UH, IT IS NEXT TO A TOWNSHIP OWN PROPERTY.

THAT'S ALL FLOODPLAIN.

THE WHOLE ENTIRE PROPERTY IS FLOODPLAIN.

IT CAN'T BE DEVELOPED.

IT CAN'T BE DISTURBED.

IT IS FALLS UNDER ALL THOSE THINGS, BUT MY INTEREST IN IT IS, IS JUST TO HELP PRESERVE THAT AS GREEN SPACE AS IT IS AND MAKING A FAIR MARKET OFFER TO TAKE IT OVER.

UH, I KNOW THAT HERE IN THE TOWNSHIP, WE HAVE QUITE A FEW PROPERTIES THAT WE'RE STILL LOOKING AT DEVELOPING THAT THE TOWNSHIP IS, HAS ACQUIRED, UH, TAYLOR, THE REST OF ANDERSON, UH, THE HESS TRACK, UH, QUITE LARGE PROPERTIES THAT ARE ON THAT PLANNING ALSO IN THE IDEA OF A COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING IN LOOKING AT IT.

A LOT OF THESE PROPERTIES, AREN'T EVEN PART OF THAT.

I MEAN, IN WHAT WE JUST GONE OVER TO PUT TOGETHER A 10 YEAR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, I'M LOOKING AT THE FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF MAINTENANCE ACQUISITION AND THE POSITION OF THE TOWNSHIP 10 YEARS FROM NOW.

AND IF WE CAN GET RESIDENTS TO COME IN AND PICK UP PROPERTY, TITLE IT AS OPEN SPACE AND IT WORKS IN OTHER PLACES, I THINK IT'S FISCALLY A GOOD IDEA FOR THE TOWNSHIP.

AND I THINK IT'S GREAT FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE NEAR THE PROPERTIES LIKE MYSELF.

UH, WHAT WOULD THAT, UM, RELIEVE THE TOWNSHIP? OR ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT LIKE THE MOWING MAINTENANCE AND THINGS LIKE THAT OR, WELL, IN FLOODPLAIN IS A LITTLE MORE, UH, BECAUSE WHEN IT HAPPENS, UH, THERE'S A LOT OF DEBRIS TREES OUT.

ALSO, IF IT'S NOT CLEANED UP RIGHT AWAY, WHICH IS HAPPENS WITH THE PROPERTY NEXT TO ME, UH, ONCE IT ISN'T CLEANED UP ANYONE WHO WANTS TO DISPOSE OF TRASH, WE LIVE IN A VERY SECLUDED AREA.

I'VE CLEANED IT UP MANY TIMES, WHETHER IT'S ROOFING, REFRIGERATORS, TVS, AND THE PURPOSE IS ONE OF SELF-INTEREST THAT I WANT IT TO LOOK CLEAN ALL THE TIME.

SO PEOPLE DON'T JUST DRIVE BACK IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND DO IT.

THE OTHER THING IS WE HAVE PEOPLE THROUGH OUR NEIGHBORHOOD ALL THE TIME ON BIKES WALKING, AND THEY LIKED THE WAY IT LOOKS.

SO, AND AGAIN, UM, THE

WE ACQUIRE, WE DON'T GIVE AWAY OR SELL, BUT I THINK WITH THE GREEN SPACE, IT ALWAYS ENDS UP GREEN SPACE, ESPECIALLY IN A FLOOD AREA.

THERE'S NOT MUCH WE CAN DO.

SO IT'S WHY THESE GAUGES ARE IMPORTANT AND WHY FOLKS ARE NERVOUS AND RIGHTLY SO, I LIVE IN THE FLOOD.

SO THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO INDICATION WHATSOEVER.

I THINK IT WAS ACTUALLY, UH, SEVEN 30 OR EIGHT.

O'CLOCK THE RAIN AT THE WATER HIT HERE.

AND IF IT, IF YOU WEREN'T WATCHING, YOU WOULDN'T HAVE HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS HAPPENING BECAUSE IT DIDN'T RAIN, RAIN UP RIVER, AND IT TOOK FOUR HOURS TO GET HERE.

AND PRIOR TO STARTING WITH THE STATE POLICE, A FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE WITH UPPER PROVENANCE REMAINING AS A PART-TIME EMPLOYEE AND A FRIEND TO MANY, AND THE TWO WEEKS FOLLOWING HIS DEATH, A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF WORK AND TIME WAS NEEDED TO PROVIDE THE TRIBUTE AND SERVICE THAT WAS DUE TO BRANDON TRAP BAR COMPANY WAS OUT OF SERVICE, WHICH LEFT BOTH TRAPPED BOROUGH AND A LARGE PORTION OF UPPER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP LACKING FIRE PROTECTION.

A REQUEST WAS MADE TO OUR NEIGHBORING FIRE COMPANIES AND THE OFFERS OF ASSISTANCE WERE OVERWHELMING FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.

SWITCHING EVERY SIX HOURS, A LADDER TRUCK FROM 38 DIFFERENT FIRE COMPANIES FROM SIX DIFFERENT COUNTIES SAID BUYING COLLEGE WITH OUR COMPANY TO COVER TRAP AND UPPER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP.

ON THE DAY OF BRANDON'S VIEWING OUR SOUND, SENT THEIR PAID CREW TO STAND BY IN OUR FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR US ON SATURDAY 10 FAR COMPANIES FROM THREE COUNTIES COVERED THE 14 AREA DEPARTMENTS THAT WERE OUT OF SERVICE WHILE THE FELLOW FIREFIGHTERS ATTENDED HIS FUNERAL.

OUR FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS A LARGE PART OF THE PLANNING, SCHEDULING COORDINATION AND PARTICIPATION IN THE SERVICES.

EVERYBODY STEPPED UP VOLUNTEERING THEIR TIME TO HELP TRAP VISIT WITH BRANDT BRITTANY AND HER FAMILY AND WORK TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING WENT RIGHT.
